Engineer, Entry Level: HVAC, Controls, Refrigeration

Position Description

Our staff engineers support projects for multiple clients by working in one of the following areas:

  • Mechanical and control system designs
  • Working in the field on mechanical, refrigeration, and control systems at client sites
  • Remotely connecting to facility building control systems to gather and analyze building control, commercial refrigeration, and HVAC system operational data.

Staff engineers who work primarily in the field travel weekly to client sites across New England and the Mid-Atlantic regions. Our work for clients is intended to establish baseline conditions, design new systems or retrofits for older ones, troubleshoot system performance issues, and ensure that energy efficiency performance is optimized and stays that way!

Responsibilities may include:

  • Use of various building control system software
  • Identifying issues with refrigeration and HVAC system and equipment performance
  • Reviewing system and equipment performance issues and undertaking action to resolve them
  • Utilizing compressor and mechanical equipment selection software to accurately size systems
  • Updating and managing databases and files
  • Effectively communicating with clients, business partners, and refrigeration, HVAC and electrical contractors

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline
  • Some knowledge of, or experience with, building control systems and/or HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Proficient at Excel; knowledge of AutoCAD a plus
  • Ability to think critically and conduct complex problem-solving investigations
  • Highly logical and organized, with habitual attention to detail

Compensation

This is a full-time position, located in Yarmouth, ME, with pay starting at between $50,000 and $60,000 depending on qualifications.  This is anticipated to be an entry-level position but individuals with experience in HVAC and refrigeration engineering or service, remote performance monitoring, building control systems, or energy efficiency are encouraged to apply.  Staff engineers who work primarily in the field may be based from home, if not a Maine resident.
